About Dover Bible Church
Dover Bible Church was established in 1838 by Joseph Brigham. It was originally named the First Congregational Church of Dover and retained that name until 2011. In April 2011 we decided to change the name to Dover Bible Church. This was done for two primary reasons.
First, the church in Dover has been closely affiliated with the Christian & Missionary Alliance for more than 15 years but had retained the “Congregational” name. Our leadership team and the rest of our members decided that was misleading to the public and that it was time to change.
Secondly, and more importantly, we wanted to clearly and distinctly declare, within our name, that we are a church who is committed to the Scriptures which clearly and unashamedly testify of the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. That commitment far exceeds our commitment to the C&MA or any other affiliation
